Designer Shea Newton

Sassafras Hill Jewelry is designed and created by me, Shea Newton.  I studied jewelry/metals/ CAD-CAM at Tyler School of Art, Temple University where I received a BFA in 2008. Since then, I have worked predominantly in Philadelphia on historic "Jewelers Row."  Experience working for several jewelry manufacturers, gave me the skills and knowledge needed to start designing my own work.

Since leaving Philadelphia and relocating to the mountains of Southern West Virginia to start a family, Sassafras Hill designs bloomed. My husband and I, along side our family, built our house from the ground up. We kept digging up and finding sassafras root on our house site. This inspired the name for my work, which is constantly being influenced by the different paths my life takes.

I work mostly in Matrix gemvision to create 3D models, which are then printed and cast in metal. I love the versatility of working in CAD. This allows me to work one on one with my customers to create exactly what they have in mind. I am able to email renderings of the design process and final product before moving forward. I work closely with an experienced manufacturer and highly skilled jewelers in Philadelphia who bring my designs to life.
